About Agate
Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now! Meet Agate! (Pronounced ah-gah-tay.) Agate is a handsome, long-haired tabby who has captured many hearts with his unique charm. He arrived at the rescue two years ago after being found in a Culpeper backyard at just four months old, alongside his brother. Though he was deeply bonded with his brother, Agate has shown incredible resilience after experiencing loss. This sweet boy is very friendly and charming, reminiscent of a socially awkward but irresistibly handsome guy who isn't quite aware of his appeal. At dinner time, Agate will shower you with head butts and rubs, all in the hope of getting his beloved wet food. The rest of the day, he tends to be on the skittish side and may get startled if approached too quickly, likely a result of events in his past. Interestingly, Agate seems to be more at ease around men, but he does well with his foster mom, too. Agate gets along wonderfully with other cats, often seeking out his feline companions—both fosters and permanent residents—for play and snuggle sessions. His ideal home is a quiet, low to medium energy space, where his gentle nature and shyness are understood and respected. He would thrive in a home with patient people willing to give him the time needed to acclimate, as well as other cats to snuggle with and befriend. Agate would love to have access to cozy hiding spots and taller perches to watch the world go by. He is dewormed, up to date on FVCRP and Rabies vaccines, neutered, combo tested negative, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. Consider providing this loving and gentle cat the warm, understanding home he truly deserves. You won't regret welcoming Agate into your family. Make their next chapter their best one yet.
