Amaya was born at least mostly blind—she might spot shadows or movements, but her vision is highly impaired. She sometimes bumps into things or knocks things over, so a home with minimal stairs and fewer obstacles would be perfect for her. Ideally, Amaya's new home will feature a fenced-in yard far from busy streets, ensuring her safety and plenty of space to play. At six months old, Amaya is all puppy: playful, energetic, and wiggly. As a Labrador Retriever/Australian Shepherd mix, she truly is a lively bundle of fun! She loves to be close—personal boundaries mean little when you're eager to share your love. At about 30 pounds, she's got a bit more growing to do, but likely won't get too much bigger. Walking on a leash is a bit of an adventure for her; her limited vision makes it easy for both of you to end up tangled now and then. Amaya is wonderful with other dogs, making her a delightful companion in a multi-dog household. However, she isn't suited for living with cats, as her playful nature and lack of cat etiquette can make life stressful for felines. With kids ages 8 and up who understand she may bump into them or get a little mouthy when excited, Amaya can be a sweetheart of a family pet.
