About Ernie

Ernie is a 1.5-year-old Jack Russell Terrier mix with a knack for charming anyone who meets him. When he's not zooming around the house, you'll find him curled up in a puppy ball, nesting into your neck for a nap or taking it all in from the sidelines. He loves road trips, thrives on affection, and wins over most people with his cheerful energy, little roars, and expressive eyes. His personality is best suited to a calm, low-stress household—he isn't right for homes with cats, small children, or other small animals due to his high prey drive. Ernie needs continued support working on impulse control and manners, especially in times of excitement. He's shown some initial nervousness around men, so any intros there will need patience, calm, and a few treats to help him feel safe. He’s medically sound overall but does have mild luxating patellas in both back knees: he feels best with several short walks and plenty of couch time rather than long adventures. Ernie wants to be someone's loyal companion in a mellow, loving home—ideally with older kids and people who love a playful, cuddly pup who’s still learning his way in the world.
