Smokey
AvailableSmokey is an Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler, about 2 years and 4 months old, living in Bradenton, FL. She is an adult female, medium in size, and is house trained. Smokey is sweet-natured and currently decompressing in her foster home, waiting to find her forever family.
About Smokey
Smokey has been finding her footing in a foster home after spending much of her life outdoors. She’s gentle, sweet with people, and runs quiet—definitely more of a shadow than a spotlight seeker. Her temperament is mellow, and she seems happiest with another calm dog around, so long as they’re not in her face. She’s still decompressing from her old life and gets attached easily, the classic velcro type, but will need patient, dog-savvy folks ready to let her settle and discover her confidence. Older kids are fine, but Smokey would rather skip the toddler chaos. She picks things up quickly and wants to please but will benefit from manners classes to help her navigate social situations. A fenced yard and steady routines are important for her right now. The rescue will cover her heartworm treatment if she stays in the St. Pete or Tampa area. In time, she could make a great companion for runs or hikes once she’s comfortable in her surroundings. She’s ready for someone with the time and heart to let her blossom. What are you waiting for?
