Mya
AvailableMya is a young, medium-sized female Sharpei and Rottweiler mix currently at Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Control. She is spayed and is known for her playful, friendly demeanor. Mya thrives in active homes and gets along well with large, young dogs under the right introduction conditions, but should not be placed with cats or small pets due to her prey drive. With her affectionate personality and housebroken status, she's a loving companion for those ready for an energetic friend.
About Mya
This could be the start of something paw-some. Meet Mya, a young Sharpei and Rottweiler mix who is looking for her forever home after some time in foster care and previous adoptive attempts. Mya weighs in at about 66.5 pounds and is known for her playful and energetic personality—she absolutely loves to play with other large, young dogs! However, she prefers controlled introductions with regular time-outs to ensure positive play sessions. Crates are not her favorite, so a safe and comfortable time-out room will help her thrive. Mya would do best in an active home dedicated to helping her continue to learn manners, especially when greeting and playing with other dogs. She walks well on a harness and enjoys car rides, making her an ideal companion for outdoor adventures. While she was described as friendly with children, Mya can be a little shy at first around strangers and is sometimes selective about her doggy friends, particularly females. Her previous homes noted her high prey drive, so she will need a cat-free home without small dogs or pocket pets to set her up for success. Despite her picky eating habits and a bit of anxiety in new homes, Mya is affectionate, knows her basic commands, and is housebroken. She has demonstrated her love and loyalty with dedicated caregivers, and with patience and understanding, she’ll make a wonderful addition to an active, committed family. Lets make it official, apply to adopt!
