Amber & Alice, two mamas who co-parented their litters for 8 weeks, came from a hoarding situation and they were unsocialized, traumatized and freaked out. We gave them a warm space to raise their pups and they remained pretty scared while nursing them. Well, Amber has now weaned her pups and she's in a new foster home getting lots of one on one attention, and she's coming around quite a bit. She shows interest in her foster mom by following her everywhere, but still keeps a distance just far enough away for comfort. She'll jump up on the couch to get near foster mom, but just learning to enjoy scritches and pets. She's going to be all right...she just needs time. Amber is around 15 pounds, a mixed breed, scruffy white and tan girl. We call her a Terrier, but she could have Poodle and who knows how many other breeds in her DNA.
