Adoption fee: $650 Meet Tinker – A tiny shadow with a big love for his people At just 7–8 months old and a petite 5.6 pounds, Tinker is a Papillon mix who proves that the smallest dogs can have the biggest hearts. Rescued alongside his buddies Imp, Pixie, and Puck, Tinker may start off a little shy— but once he knows you, he becomes the ultimate velcro companion. A Day in Tinker’s World Tinker starts his day around 7:30am, heading out for a quick potty break before eagerly returning inside— he’s a “business first, cozy later” kind of guy. He doesn’t need long walks and actually prefers to keep outings short and sweet. He typically goes out again in the late afternoon around 5pm and once more before bedtime at 10pm. In between, he’s happiest staying close to his people, lounging wherever you are— on the couch, at your desk, or curled up in your lap. Meals are one of his favorite parts of the day, and he’s always ready to eat whenever food is offered (and might politely lobby for a little extra). At night, he sleeps soundly in his crate. Personality: From Shy to Snuggly When Tinker first arrives in a new environment, he can be timid and unsure. He takes a moment to observe the world from a safe distance— but it doesn’t take long before his affectionate side takes over. Once he trusts you, Tinker becomes a full-on cuddle bug. He absolutely loves being close and will happily curl up in a tiny ball on your lap for hours. He’s the kind of dog who lights up when you walk into the room, always excited to be near his favorite people. He’s what you’d call a true velcro dog— loyal, loving, and happiest right by your side. Social Life Tinker has done well with a small resident dog, though he was initially nervous and needed a few days to warm up. With gentle introductions, he learns to feel safe and comfortable. New people and especially kids can be a bit overwhelming for him, and his instinct may be to retreat until he feels secure. Because of this, he would do best in a quieter home environment where he can build confidence at his own pace. Play Style & Energy Tinker has a nice balance of energy. When he feels comfortable, he can be playful and fun, but he’s just as happy to match your vibe—lounging when you relax and engaging when you’re ready to play. If he gets bored and finds something within reach, he may entertain himself with a little chewing, so having appropriate toys and supervision will help keep him on track. Leash & Training Progress Tinker has made impressive progress on leash in a short amount of time. He started off very fearful of everyday sights and sounds— cars, people, dogs— but is now gaining confidence and walking more comfortably around the neighborhood. He may pull slightly and still gets nervous in unfamiliar situations, but he doesn’t bark at other dogs or chase distractions. With continued patience and encouragement, he’s on a great path to becoming a confident walker. He is crate trained and does very well sleeping through the night. Home Habits Tinker is generally well-behaved but may bark briefly in new or uncertain situations, such as when guests arrive or during the first few minutes in his crate. He settles quickly once he feels safe. He doesn’t need a large space and is perfectly content in a smaller home, as long as he has his person nearby. What Makes Tinker Special Tinker’s transformation from shy observer to devoted companion is something truly special. Once you earn his trust, his love is constant, warm, and incredibly endearing. A Favorite Tinker Moment Tinker has the sweetest little habit— he’ll gently use his paws to pull your face closer so he can give you kisses. It’s his way of saying, “you’re mine,” and it’s impossible not to fall in love when he does it. Tinker may be tiny, but his devotion is enormous. If you’re looking for a loyal lap dog who will adore you endlessly, Tinker is ready to be your little shadow.
