About Akuna

Akuna is a striking black and white, 4-year-old pit bull terrier/lab mix who has been waiting patiently for over a year to find her perfect match. She’s currently being housed at an animal hospital in Colbert, GA due to urgent circumstances at her former shelter. Akuna lights up whenever a familiar face walks in, wiggling and ready for affection. Her playful nature comes out when she’s chasing a favorite ball or watching squirrels through the window. She’s silly, opinionated, and sharp as a tack—a genuine character who has flourished after coming to rescue with serious neck injuries. Now fully healed, she’s ready to give that love back tenfold. Akuna loves going on walks and is polite on a leash, but may get distracted if a squirrel scurries by. She does best as the only dog in the house and needs an adopter who understands dog behavior and has prior experience. She is house trained, spayed, and up to date on vaccinations. She’s generally friendly to everyone, though a bit cautious around unfamiliar men. Akuna loves children and is friendly with other dogs and cats but truly thrives when she gets undivided attention. She’s waited long enough and deserves a loving home where her personality can shine. Every animal at the rescue is counting on finding new space soon—consider making room for Akuna in your life. Your new best friend is just one click away.
