About Andromeda

Meet Andromeda (Ande): A Playful, BrightHearted Girl Who Will Light Up Your Home This is a bittersweet bio to write - because Andromeda, lovingly called Ande, is truly something special. She has captured the hearts of her foster family, and while it isn't in the cards for her to stay with them forever, they know with certainty that she will be an incredible gift to the right home. Ande is sweet, joyful, intelligent, and full of life. Though she was estimated to be around two years old, her foster family suspects she may be closer to a year - she has very real kitten energy and is always ready to play. It's likely she had kittens very young, yet her spirit is light, curious, and wonderfully resilient. Playtime is Ande's favorite thing in the world. She loves to show off her skills - pouncing, leaping, chasing, and proudly catching her toys (and sometimes even her own tail during zoomies). She's especially drawn to natural materials: string is her absolute favorite, and she delights in chasing corks around the house. While she enjoys all toys, these are clear winners. Despite her enthusiasm, Ande is an impressively respectful houseguest. She uses her scratch pads exclusively, doesn't claw furniture, avoids counters, and hasn't gotten into anything she shouldn't - a rare and wonderful balance of playful energy and good manners. Andromeda's standout qualities: Sweet, playful, and full of joyful kitten energy Thrives on interactive play and shared attention Purrs quickly and often once affection begins Lightly chatty - meows to say hello, request pets, or communicate boundaries Intelligent, adaptable, and responsive to gentle guidance Ande loves affection and connection. She often prefers people to come to her - especially on the floor - where she'll roll over for pets and even enjoy belly rubs. She's beginning to relax more on the couch and has made great progress there, though she isn't quite a lap cat yet. With time and trust, her foster believes cuddling will continue to grow naturally. She does enjoy being held briefly and tolerates it best during harness training, which she has taken to surprisingly well. Ande enjoys being outside on her harness and with continued training, she could become an excellent walking or adventure cat for someone who enjoys safe outdoor enrichment or travel. Andromeda craves engagement. While she can play independently, she loves knowing you're watching - often glancing back to make sure she has an audience! She has been welcoming and friendly with new people, warming up quickly and inviting pets and play. Her past challenges with other cats appear to have been situational and likely related to recent motherhood. She now shows curiosity rather than fear around other animals and may do well with friendly, respectful cats or dogs. Above all, Andromeda is what her foster lovingly describes as a "nice girl." She listens well to redirection, doesn't play rough, and is careful not to hurt others - even during energetic play. Her foster family truly believes she will thrive with people who want to actively engage with her, encourage her playful spirit, and include her as part of daily life. A note from her foster family: They would be happy to speak with anyone interested in adopting Andromeda and even welcome visits to meet her in person in Carrboro, NC. They care deeply about her future and want to help her find the loving, engaged home she deserves. If you're looking for a cat who brings joy, laughter, movement, and genuine connection - who wants to play with you, communicate with you, and grow alongside you - Andromeda may be your perfect match.
