Andre is a large, mixed-breed dog who carries the heart of a survivor. Dumped with a littermate and left to fend for himself, he spent over a year dodging folks trying to help, eventually coming into foster care in late 2020. Back then, he barely left his kennel, overwhelmed by fear and uncertainty, wary of everyone and everything. Bit by bit, Andre has pushed through his anxietyāevery small step has been hard-won: walking on leash, exploring the yard, sitting quietly rather than hiding. These days, he enjoys doggy daycare, mingling with other dogs and people, and that has moved his confidence forward more than anything. Andre is dog friendly and goofy once he feels safe. Cats are a no-go, and while his default mode is skittish around new folks (especially men), patient older kids might be okay under the right supervision. Heās genuinely loyal once he bonds, but you have to earn that trust with time and consistency. Heās off daily anxiety meds, thanks to a set routine and some smart structure. Andre has learned basics and some tricksāheās certainly clever, just still wired to bolt if spooked.
