About Ellie
Ellie’s story took a few turns, but she’s back and searching for the right home. Originally adopted as a pup, she was later surrendered to another state’s shelter before returning to the rescue in Justin, TX. Ellie is a spirited, medium-sized Australian Kelpie mix with a lot of heart and a lot of energy. She’s not a fit for homes with other dogs—her dog selectivity requires careful, slow introductions with any potential canine friends. At the rescue, she hit it off with a Great Dane, but these connections are exceptions, not the rule. Ellie absolutely loves people. She greets new faces with tail-wagging, enthusiastic jumps, hugs, and a deep desire for cuddles and pets. Because of her excitement and strength, she’s best paired with older kids rather than very young ones. Leash walks are a work in progress—Ellie’s exuberant and can pull, so an adopter willing to put in some leash training will get a return on their investment. Treats are her love language and make training smoother. An ideal home for Ellie includes a big yard to run in and soft blankets to burrow under. She’s eager for a person to call her own.
