About Captain Cap
Captain Cap is a 2-year-old neutered male Bloodhound who's happiest with an experienced male owner. He’s all strength, zero aggression, and prefers a confident handler who knows hounds inside and out. With Cap, the bigger the family members, the better—he loves older kids and adults but might bowl over little ones just by being himself. He needs a fenced yard and craves the company of dogs his own size. Cap’s great with cats and could easily live alongside them, but small dogs and small animals aren’t the right fit: he’ll play rough, not out of meanness, but out of sheer enthusiasm. This is a dog who adores the outdoors, a good tug toy, long walks, and a sprint down a nature trail. He can be a chewer when bored, so a kennel is a must while you’re out, especially if you want to keep your remote controls safe. Nail trimming is a challenge—Cap prefers a rib scratch to keep him distracted. He loves affection and he’s as loyal as they come, but he’s also got a stubborn streak and a lot of slobber, so you’ll need a sense of humor and a good towel. He’s allergic to chicken—he does best on Purina One Wild Instinct Venison Turkey, and it’s the only food that keeps his skin and tummy happy. Cap’s a ‘man’s dog,’ and while a couple could do fine, he’ll always lean toward the guy in the house. Families with older teens and adults who can match his energy and size will find a fiercely devoted friend who just wants to be active and understood. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
