ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS SOMEONE WHO IS HOME MORE THAN GONE Hi there! My name is Hemi. I'm a 13 year old, 100lb shepherd mix who is on her weight loss journey. My dad passed away recently and since I was originally adopted from this rescue, I was lucky enough to find a foster so I could come back! I came in with a wound on my back leg that is now almost healed. I currently live with senior kitties and 6 8-week old kittens and am very respectful of the cats and their space. So far as my foster mom can tell, I like other dogs. I love short walks and can go a whole 0.6 miles! I would love to go on short walks with a new family. I went and saw the vet and she said I'm the picture of health! My blood work and urinalysis came back clean. I act like a younger dog albeit approx 35lbs overweight. I'm potty trained and my foster mom has only heard me bark once when someone was hanging out without permission on her front porch. I would be fine in an apartment, duplex or house with or without a fence as long as people are willing to take me for my walks and take me out on a leash for potty time. Stairs are hard for me to get up and down right now but I can handle a few of them just not whole staircases yet! I love car rides but need some help getting in tAalmost jumped into my foster mom's SUV all by myself! I'm still a bit sad about my dad passing. He took really good care of me, I was super spoiled and it's hard to go through such a loss. I would love to help another family through such a loss or find a family to hang out with during my remaining years.
