ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS FENCED YARD AGE APPROPRIATE CANINE COMPANION Meet Benny — a fun, energetic, and curious 18-month-old rescue dog looking for his forever home! This handsome guy is a true Heinz 57 pup with a DNA test showing 17 different breeds, but with the highest percentages being 23% Beagle and 18% Belgian Malinois. At 52 lbs, Benny is the perfect mix of playful and smart, and he’s already potty trained and crate trained (though he may need a blanket instead of a crate tray to avoid any chewing mishaps). Benny is a very affectionate dog who loves to be around people, and he’ll happily curl up beside you for some snuggles after a fun play session. He’s also incredibly smart—he knows commands like "sit," "get down," "drop it, and ‘stay’ and has even learned to take treats gently. He loves catching them in the air too! He believes hes a water spaniel. He loves playing in the water so he’s super happy it’s summer time! He can also open doors (outside to inside) and loves to drag all his toys outside for an impromptu backyard adventure. Benny is best suited for an active home with another dog that has a similar energy level to his. He’s still learning to be calm around new dogs, so a slow introduction is important. Benny has a high energy level and would thrive with a family that can provide him with lots of walks, playtime, and mental stimulation. He also loves water, and his foster home has a pool that he enjoys swimming in! One thing to note: Benny is a bit mischievous and curious, especially when the door is open—he’s been known to steal socks, shoes, towels, and blankets and drag them outside. He doesn’t chew on them but will play tug-of-war if his doggy pal starts it. He will need a secure 6-foot fence to keep him safe, as he might try to jump a chain-link fence out of curiosity. Benny would make a great companion for an experienced dog owner who has the time and energy to give him the attention he deserves.
