Ruby
AvailableRuby is a German Shepherd Dog living in Brookhaven, NY. She has a medium coat and is large in size. Ruby is a young, spayed female who has not been house trained yet. Her vaccinations are up to date and she needs a home that can provide support for her special needs.
About Ruby
Ruby is a striking German Shepherd with a rough past who spent most of her life outside, never knowing the comfort of a real home. At about four years old, she is new to being part of a family and learning how to relax inside. Affection and attention are still unfamiliar, but she craves both—belly rubs and treats are her favorite. Everything in the home is new, and Ruby struggles with severe anxiety. She’s currently on anxiety medication and will need an adopter who understands dogs with high anxiety and can offer steady patience and experience. Ruby needs supervision outside, as she has a history of trying to escape when overwhelmed, and she’ll require a secure setup in the yard. She knows basic commands like "sit" and "paw," is treat motivated, and wants to build a real bond with her people. She cannot live with dogs or cats, and she does chase small animals, so a single-animal household is best. Ruby does well with children and has so much love to give to the right family. In the hands of someone committed and understanding, she can become deeply loyal and affectionate. Give Ruby the warm, soft home she has never known—she’s waiting for someone who won’t give up on her. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started.
