About Lincoln
Lincoln is a 30 lb Pekingese mix who spent much of his early life in a breeding situation, surrounded by other dogs but never given a chance to develop trust in people. Because humans haven’t treated him well before, Lincoln stays cautious and unsure—he isn’t likely to come running up for affection right away. Instead, he needs a steady, patient person willing to grant him space, consistency, and time to decompress. Right now, Lincoln is heartworm positive and in need of a tranquil home where he can rest and undergo treatment. He can't handle a lot of activity, so a calm environment is critical to let him heal physically and start to feel emotionally secure. Despite being withdrawn, Lincoln is the sort of dog who can truly bloom with the right caretaker. The transformation he might undergo, once he learns to trust, could be dramatic. For Lincoln, routine and gentleness are everything. He’s looking for a quiet, structured home with someone ready to move at his pace and help him discover what a loving relationship can really mean. The reward: being the person who helps him finally feel safe. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!

Questions about Lincoln
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Lincoln, as a Pekingese mix, does best in calm, stable homes where he feels safe and secure. Smaller spaces are fine as long as there’s a quiet atmosphere and lots of patience.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Pekingese mixes like Lincoln don’t require a large yard. A small outdoor area for light walks is enough, especially since Lincoln currently needs limited activity for his health.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Pekingese mixes can sometimes be wary of high-energy children. Given Lincoln’s need for a calm, structured home, he would do best in an environment without young kids.
