Daizy, If you look up the term “couch potato”, there should be a picture of Daizy right next to it. Daizy is an 8 year old Shih Tzu mixed with snuggle bug! Her favorite things to do are lounge on the couch next to her person and bask in any pets that you are willing to spare for her. With her velvet fur, it's no hardship to just sit and pet her for hours! She loves belly rubs especially. Despite her love of lazy lounging and the bit of gray fur on her ears, she does enjoy spending time outside and exploring the yard. She likes being nosey and watching the neighbors go about their days through the fence. At night, Daizy loves cuddling up next to her person and will sleep in for as long as you let her. At first, Daizy is shy and will require some time to build trust and open up. She will accept belly rubs as a form of payment for that confidence. The work it takes to gain her trust is all worth it for the devotion she gives to her person. Daizy is dealing with separation and confinement anxiety and is working with a trainer to help alleviate the issues. We have also started her on Prozac to help the transition into her new home. She needs someone who will be willing to work with her through her anxieties. Daizy is also working on her figure, and, although she hates it, she is sticking to her diet very well. She still needs to lose some more weight, so she will need someone to help keep her on track. As with all Shih Tzus, she will have basic grooming needs(brushing and occasional hair cuts) that her owner will need to attend to. Daizy is potty trained, knows how to sit, and is working on perfecting her manners. She is good with cats and other low energy dogs. She will do best in a semi low energy household. Daizy is an amazing dog. She loves her people and whoever is lucky enough to adopt her will have a devoted companion for years to come. A fenced yard would be best because she is very interested in squirrels and birds. I could see her taking off after one. But I think as long as the new owner knows to keep her harnessed and leashed that she would be okay without one. Im working on getting her used to putting a harness on. She is fully vetted for 1 year, spayed, microchipped, & on monthly preventatives. She also recently had a dental with 11 extractions so keeping up on her dental hygiene is a must. Once approved, we will set up a day/time for you to meet Daizy. Please be ready to take her home within 1-3 days after application approval. *We do not accept electric/underground fences.
