About Leni

Leni is an energetic, affectionate lovebug who hasn’t met a stranger she doesn’t like. A Basset Hound and Lab mix, she brings together the best of both worlds: Lab energy and enthusiasm with a low-to-the-ground, sturdy build. At around 35 pounds, she’s the perfect medium-sized dog with a big personality. Leni is incredibly people-forward. She wants to say hello to everyone she passes and will make sure she gets the attention she’s looking for, often flopping onto her back mid-walk for belly rubs. She’s sweet, gentle, and thrives on connection. She loves to play. Tug, fetch, chasing a ball on repeat, she could go for hours. Balls are her absolute favorite and she’ll choose play over treats every time, which can be a great tool for training. She’s also happiest outside, whether it’s long walks, hikes, beach time, or sprinting through the grass. She loves exploring, pouncing into bushes in search of lizards, and listening to every little sound around her. Just keep in mind those short legs need the occasional break. Leni is dog social and enjoys meeting and playing with other dogs. She communicates well and matches energy, though she can be a bit cautious if a larger dog approaches too quickly. Like many young dogs, she’s still learning boundaries, especially when it comes to high-value items like balls. In the home, she’s doing really well. She is fully potty trained, knows basic commands like sit, down, and touch, and is continuing to work on skills like recall, loose leash walking, and leave it. She can be left alone without issue and has shown no destructive behavior. Leni has a way of making everyone fall in love with her. She’s joyful, curious, affectionate, and full of life, and would thrive in an active home that will continue to engage her and give her all the love she so easily gives in return.
