About Austin
Austin is an adult male terrier mix with a sensitive soul and real potential for growth. He is extremely skittish—loud noises and sudden activity make him nervous, and shelter life has been a tough adjustment. Underneath his anxiety, though, Austin wants to connect and build trust with someone who can be his anchor. He’s looking for a predictable, quiet home run by patient adults who truly understand how to let a dog move at their own pace. Austin doesn’t do well with other dogs, so a single-animal home is essential, and he is not suited for families with children. His ideal adopter will respect his boundaries and help him slowly gain confidence. Once safe, he will be fiercely loyal—a one-person dog in the sincerest sense. Austin’s coat is curly and requires regular grooming to prevent matting. When he arrived, his fur was so matted that he needed a full shave, so upkeep will be an ongoing responsibility. If you appreciate the challenge and satisfaction of helping a shy dog open up, Austin is waiting for you in Honesdale, PA, at Dessin. Every dog is different; Austin just needs someone willing to go slow and offer a steady hand. Click apply and let the tail-wagging begin!
