About Elroy
Elroy came from a place most wouldn't believe. Surviving months isolated in a desert canyon, chained up outdoors and left to fend for himself, he persevered despite horrifying neglect. When rescuers found him, he was gaunt and terrified, having seen only scraps each month and bracing for the worst from humans. Months went by before anyone came for him again. Adjusting was hard—Elroy understandably wanted nothing to do with people at first and didn't trust men at all. He needed hospital care, treatment for tick-borne illness, and surgery to fix an old injury on his foot. It took time, but with patience and quiet, he finally let his guard down and discovered belly rubs, walks, and the safety of a steady routine. Now Elroy is seeking a home where he can be the center of attention. He needs to be the only dog—though with patience, he might one day accept a very submissive female, but he should always eat separately. Elroy doesn’t get along with cats. A dog-savvy single woman would be ideal for him; a calm, understanding environment will give him the best shot at lifelong happiness. He’s house trained but could have accidents adjusting to a new home. Crating when you're away gives him added comfort at first. Elroy is fully vetted, neutered, vaccinated, and ready for his real start. His adoption fee is waived for the right adopter. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!

Questions about Elroy
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Pit Bull Terriers like Elroy enjoy regular outdoor walks and a fenced yard, but don’t need massive acreage. Daily exercise and opportunities for enrichment matter more than sheer size of the yard.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Elroy would be best in an adult-only home due to his background and recovery needs, but generally, Pit Bull Terriers can live with children if properly socialized and supervised. In Elroy's case, a calm, child-free home is ideal.
