About Gertie
Gertie is on the upswing after her recent spay and multiple mass removals. Sheās healing comfortably in her finderās home, but soon sheāll need a permanent place to settle in and finish her recoveryāpreferably with someone who will never let her down again. Gertie is about eight years old and fits into a household with a quiet, steady presence. She moved right in with her fosterās two small dogs and was instantly sweet and polite with everyone she met, a calm presence who wants nothing more than a soft bed and a kind touch. Though Gertie came in as a stray, itās obvious sheās lived indoors before. She knows her basic commands and adapts seamlessly, making herself at home (and in your heart) almost immediately. Despite the hard road sheās traveledāher body tells the story of neglect, overbreeding, and being cast asideāshe makes no complaints and continues to greet the world with trust and quiet dignity. Years of mistreatment took their toll, but now she has a real chance at healing and comfort with someone who sees her value. Gertieās journey isnāt over, but her days of being overlooked are. Sheās easy to love and ready to move forward, and sheās looking for a home in the Northeast where she can finally settle in and be someoneās cherished dog.
