About Hank

Meet Hank 📍 Hamburg, NY 🎂 DOB: 05/21/2024 Hank is a big, goofy, lovable boy with a personality that will keep you smiling every day. Full of life and affection, Hank is the kind of dog who wants to be involved in everything you’re doing — whether that’s going for a long walk, playing tug, or just following you from room to room to “supervise.” Hank has a moderate-to-higher energy level and would thrive in an active home. He loves playing ball, a good game of tug, and outdoor adventures. That said, when the day winds down, Hank is all about the snuggles — he’ll happily try to curl up in your lap or rest his big head on your shoulder. He is housetrained, crate trained, walks well on leash, and rides nicely in the car. Hank may get a little excited when he first goes into his kennel, but he settles and sleeps through the night without issue. He’s also eager to please and very food motivated (especially if cheese is involved), which makes him a great candidate for continued training. Hank is currently working on managing his excitement when seeing other dogs on leash. He does not show aggression but can get overstimulated and may throw the occasional “temper tantrum.” The good news is that he’s already making great progress in training and will just need consistency and guidance to continue improving. Hank lives with other dogs and enjoys playing, especially with larger companions who can match his play style. He does best with proper introductions and takes corrections from other dogs well. Since being neutered, some of his more excitable behaviors are already improving. He has also been around cats. Hank may try to chase if they run, but he responds to correction and has shown he can coexist with confident, dog-savvy cats. With continued training, he has great potential to live successfully in a home with cats. Hank has met children (ages 8 and up) and has done well, happily greeting them for pets. Due to his size and enthusiasm, he would do best with dog-savvy kids and supervision around younger children. Around adults, Hank is friendly and affectionate once he feels comfortable. He can be a bit unsure around some men at first, but with proper introductions and reassurance, he warms up nicely and often ends up seeking attention. He may bark at unfamiliar noises or people initially, but this is manageable and improves as he settles in. Hank is a sensitive boy at heart — he truly wants to do the right thing and responds best to patient, positive guidance. Hank’s Ideal Home: - An active home that can match his playful energy - An owner committed to continuing his training - A home with a fenced yard is a plus - Dog companions are welcome with proper introductions - Dog-savvy cats possible with continued guidance Hank is a fun-loving, affectionate dog with so much potential. With the right guidance and structure, he will grow into an incredible lifelong companion.
