Stormy A184047 39 lb. spayed female, approx 2 years old -This sweet girl may be a little timid at first, but it doesn't take long to see how much she wants to connect. New things--like doorways or unfamiliar spaces--can feel a bit overwhelming right now, but she looks to her person for reassurance and comfort. -Once outside, she made her feelings very clear by climbing right into my lap the moment I sat down. Being close to her people is where she feels safest, and she absolutely soaks up that quiet, gentle affection. -She's been through a lot and is still learning that she's safe. While she wasn't quite ready for a bath yet, she handled everything with patience and tolerance, even when she was unsure. With a little time and trust, she'll get there. -After settling in, she showed her softer side--exploring briefly before coming right back for more attention. When I laid down, she curled up beside me, then rolled over for belly rubs, completely melting into the moment. She'll even sneak in a soft kiss here and there. -She's food-motivated, already knows how to sit, and takes treats gently. She's not quite into toys yet, but that will likely come as she gains confidence. -Overall, she's a gentle, affectionate soul who just needs a patient, loving home to help her feel safe and blossom into the happy dog she's meant to be. -Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids *Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt *Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. *Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. *There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. *To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** *The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30 **1431 E Ferry St. Detroit
