This animal is FIV+. FIV is a virus that can cause a weakened immune system, but most FIV+ cats live normal lives with no difference in lifespan compared to other cats. FIV is spread only through deep bite wounds or mating, so thereâ€ÂTMs minimal risk to other cats in the home, especially since all DPA cats are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. We recommend slow introductions when bringing home any new pet and can provide resources and guidance for a peaceful transition. Regular vet visits to detect illnesses early are important for FIV+ cats, but many FIV+ cats will live long, healthy lives with little to no symptoms.
