About Poppy

Poppy is a rare Kokoni puppy—her previous owner says she's a purebred, a Greek breed not often seen in the U.S. Her look is similar to a Tibetan Spaniel, but if you want to get nerdy about dogs, look up Kokonis—there’s lots to learn. She arrived at Canine Castaways as a local owner surrender with some minor facial skin injuries, which have fully healed. At just 6 lbs, she’s a sweet, social, people-friendly puppy who is ready for a fresh start. If you live within an hour of Arcadia, FL, in a single-family home, and have recent, solid puppy-dog history and vet records, this rescue will consider your application. No condos, apartments, or multi-family dwellings—these pups can’t go out in common green spaces yet. Poppy isn’t spayed yet, and still needs a few more rounds of vaccines; adopters must commit to vet appointments in Arcadia for these to be completed. She gets along well with dogs, cats, and kids. For past adopters just outside the area, the group is open to a conversation. At four months old, Poppy is looking for a stable, local home that will see her through her appointments and the rest of puppyhood. Ready for this sweet Florida original? What are you waiting for? Questions about Poppy

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Poppy, as a Kokoni (Tibetan Spaniel), generally thrives in a single-family home setting where she can enjoy a stable routine and develop strong family bonds. Her breed is adaptive but does best in environments with steady companionship.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Poppy's Kokoni background means she can do well with a modest yard rather than needing extensive land, but a safe, private outdoor area is best—especially since she's still very young and should avoid common areas with unknown dogs.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Poppy and her breed are well-suited for homes with children, as they tend to be affectionate and enjoy gentle play. She has already shown she gets along well with kids.
