Madame is a 3-year-old momma with a sweet, gentle spirit, and Pepper is her 23-month-old daughter who exudes playful energy and affection. Their DNA reveals a fascinating mix from Husky to Boxer, yet they have the classic look of Black Labs with short black and cream coats. This bonded pair had a rough start—Madame, after suffering neglect, bravely recovered from a gunshot injury and now gets around wonderfully on three legs, never letting her amputation slow her down. Pepper, fully healed after having nine puppies, is now thriving alongside her mom. Both girls are loving, intelligent, and eager to please. They excel in learning new things, enjoy car rides, and delight in praise, treats, and quality cuddle time. Madame and Pepper adore people of all ages, but given Madame’s amputation and their exuberant nature, a family with older, dog-savvy kids (10+) is recommended. They get along well with other dogs and previously played with dogs of all sizes and ages. Cats are an unknown variable—they have chased ferals outdoors, so careful supervision is a must. A secure, fenced yard is essential for these athletic companions, as Madame especially loves to explore and requires supervision due to her separation anxiety. For their ideal adoptive home, experience with special needs dogs is important. Someone home most of the time will provide Madame the security and companionship she craves.
