About Poppy
Poppy is a young, small dog weighing about 12-1/2 lbs and is around 3 years old. She arrived at the rescue with her brother Woody, both coming from a home that couldn’t keep up with too many animals. Poppy and Woody would really like to be adopted together since they’re close companions and bring out the best in each other. While Woody is the bolder sibling, Poppy’s sweet nature comes out when her foster dad spends time with her—she loves attention, just on her own terms. Poppy has a gentle side and opens up more in quiet moments. The pair has been fully vetted, spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and are up to date on shots, heartworm preventative, and deworming. The adoption fee for both covers all of their medical care so far. Adoption interest starts with an application and being ready to offer them a stable, loving place together is ideal. They’ve had a tough start and now just need the right home to settle into. What are you waiting for? Apply today!

Questions about Poppy
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Poppy, a Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix, typically does well in homes where people are around to provide company. These breeds adapt well to house or apartment living as long as they get enough interaction and daily walks.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Poppy’s Rat Terrier/Chihuahua background means she needs regular walks and playtime but doesn’t require a large yard. A secure yard or nearby park is a plus, but she’ll do fine with leash walks and indoor enrichment.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Both Rat Terriers and Chihuahuas can be good with respectful children, especially when properly socialized. Poppy’s gentle nature suggests she could fit into a home with older children who understand how to handle small dogs gently.
