About Owen

Meet brave little Owen, a 4-year-old, 7 lb mini poodle who has made an incredible journey from a breeding situation with little human affection to opening up in a foster home. Right now, Owen is learning what it means to trust people—he watches other dogs come up for attention and gets a bit bolder about it every day. He isn’t one for leashes just yet, but he absolutely loves running around a big fenced yard and does well following a "pack" outside for bathroom time. He’s had only a few accidents and is picking up on house training. Owen would be happiest with another dog in the home—he learns fast by following their lead. He’s particularly curious about children, often choosing to follow them around the house, though he’s still hesitant about being touched. A patient adopter who’s willing to let him take his time would be the best fit, and with enough patience, he’ll turn into a cuddler, even if it takes a while. He’s not food aggressive and has a habit of "bowl surfing" so gentle reminders at mealtime might help. Toys are a new concept, but he’s picking it up. Owen prefers to sleep in bed with people but will settle in his own dog bed if needed, and he hasn’t needed to be kenneled when left alone. He does like to give a good howl now and then, so homes without shared walls will suit him better. Owen’s adoption includes full vetting, neutering, microchipping, and vaccinations.
