Peeka We were told that when her owner passed away law enforcement came to her house and released all of her cats (and there were many) outside. It took our awesome trapper @alms_helpingkittys2betterlife 2 years to get 30 cats (!!) all trapped and brought inside. We noticed the dark spots on her eye and got her to an eye specialist who advised us to keep watch if the size or texture changed. She had the condition where flat, brown spots (freckles) appear on a cat’s iris, called iris melanosis, which is typically benign but can progress into a malignant cancer known as feline diffuse iris melanoma (FDIM). While these spots often start on the iris, they can spread and affect the cornea or cause structural changes to the eye. Because her largest “freckle” was growing fast we decided enucleation was the best approach so that we could steer clear of having it turn cancerous. And now she’s a beautiful one eyed kitty! She has handled surgery like a champ and is doing great! We are looking for a home for Peeka where she can be the queen. We do think she would be ok around calm, cat respecting dogs. What she would love is a quiet, calm home that isn’t chaotic. She can sometimes have a little tortitude when it comes to being pet the right way. (She can get overstimulated if you pet her lower back area for too long.) But on the other hand… she is a huge sweetheart love bug who absolutely soaks up love and attention. She is a cuddler and will snuggle up and lay on your chest and give head bops and rub her face under your neck. We love her and know that her purrfect adopter will fall in love with her too! She will continue to blossom once she knows she has found her forever people. Peeka is guesstimated to be a senior, approx 8-10 years old.
