AvailableAbout Sweet Petite Ivy
After a over a year in the City of Passaic Animal Shelter on a legal hold, Ivy got her Freedom walk!!! We are so grateful to our friends at the shelter for taking such amazing loving care of her, the proof is in that gorgeous smile. You may have caught her debut on News Channel 12 New Jersey last week. Shes a local celebrity and a shelter favorite! A little background on why she was in the shelter: Ivys original owner got incarcerated and she went to stay at the Passaic animal shelter. She was there about 9 months before her owner relinquished her and she was able to be put up for adoption. She spent a total of 1.5 years at the shelter before coming to her foster's home. The shelter did an excellent job with her because of how well trained and well adjusted she is. Ivy is completely Housebroken and she is such a lady on leash! She is not crate trained but according to her foster, she does not need to be! Not a destructive bone in her petite pittie body! She currently eats dry dog food, about 2 1/2 cups a day given midday. She doesn't play much with toys, her joy is found in being with the people who care for her. Ivy is great with dogs of similar size or larger. Not a fan of smaller dogs, but not at all aggressive. Great with all people and kids. With socialization, Ivy is absolutely wonderful. She seems to match energy. If someone comes in excited she will greet them with love and excitement. If someone is tentative or calm she will respond in kind. Shes been friendly with all visitors. She is extremely sweet and lovable! Ivy enjoys rolling on her back for belly rubs, plopping down mid walk when she wants a break, or just sitting on grass and watching the world go by. According to her foster, she also makes some really cute noises of enjoyment when shes eating. On a lazy Sunday afternoon, you'll find Ivy simply snuggling with her foster family, enjoying the down time and relaxation with her loved ones. Ivy is about 2-years and about 35lbs. Ivy is not yet spayed, but is UTD on vaccinations. The good news is that because we are a licensed, registered 501(c)3 rescue with the state of NJ, she is eligible to be spayed for just $20 with proof of adoption (adoption contract) through the NJ Low Cost Spay/Neuter Grant Program. It's super-easy, just present our contract at a participating vet and make the neuter appt! Our local vet participates, and you may just find yours does too! A word from her foster mom: "Ivy is truly amazing. I couldnt ask for a better houseguest. So far shes completely housebroken and has excellent manners in the home. Shes been left alone for 3 hours by herself and seems to do just fine. We havent used the crate yet. She sleeps a ton, loves her walks, and walks wonderfully on a leash. The only pulling is if she sees another dog as she gets excited to go greet them. But shes very obedient and listens even amidst the excitement if I tell her to sit. She isnt a big stamina dog as far as I can see, so long hikes might not suit her, but that could be because of the minimum exercise she had at the shelter. Shes accompanied me inside a coffeeshop and a couple stores and she does great. She is a minimal shedder too. Because shes muscular I wouldnt have a frail or very young person take her on walks because again she pulls for dogs and sometimes when she wants to smell something, otherwise her leash is slack. Shes honestly perfect - Im so impressed with her!" APPLY TO ADOPT NOW!! https://rosemariesrescueranch.com/dog-adoption/ In the Consideration section, under 'Application Notes', please tell us about yourself to help us get a feel for you and your family, and as a fit for the pet you are interested in.
