About Popeye

Popeye is an 81-pound Black and Tan Coonhound mix who strikes a nice balance between adventure and downtime. He enjoys moderate activity and loves to relax after a good walk. He’s happiest when out exploring by your side, but back at home, he’ll settle in for some calm. Popeye knows his Sit command and takes treats politely. On leash, he generally does well but forgets his size now and then and can pull a bit. Kids and teens are not the right fit for him; he’s just too boisterous, and little ones can overwhelm him. New experiences make him a bit nervous, but once he bonds, he opens up and becomes affectionate and trusting. He’s playful, loves toys and treats, and starts to shine when given positive motivation. Popeye prefers to meet any potential dog siblings before heading home. The shelter is still learning about his personality, so expect to discover some new quirks together.
