Oh… hi there. I’m Jefferson! I know what you’re probably noticing first… yep, I’ve got three legs. But don’t let that fool you… I run, play, climb, and get just as frisky as any other cat. Honestly, I think I’m pretty impressive. I came to the sanctuary after what looked like a hit-by-car injury, and one of my back legs couldn’t be saved. It was scary, and I didn’t trust anyone for a while. But with time, patience, and plenty of food (my favorite language), I learned that people can be pretty great. I’ll be honest with you… I’m a little shy at first. When I go to my new home, I’ll probably hide while I figure things out. I just need someone who understands that trust takes time. But once you earn mine? Oh, it’s so worth it. I turn into a total lovebug. I LOVE being petted… I’ll hobble right over and ask for more like the flirt I am. I’ve been told I have the cutest face ever… big, round, and super sweet, with the squishiest cheeks you’ve ever seen. (You can test that theory yourself.) I don’t mind being held for short periods once I know you, and brushing? Yes please. I’ve got a thick coat, so it’s kind of necessary… plus sometimes you can make an entire second Jefferson with all my fluff. I’m also a big fan of catnip. Especially those catnip bananas. Those things are life-changing. Other cats? I LOVE them. I’m always snuggling or rubbing up against my friends, so I’d really do best in a home with another kitty to keep me company. If you’re patient, kind, and willing to let me come out of my shell at my own pace, I promise I’ll reward you with so much love (and probably a few dramatic flops for attention). Come meet me, I’ll be waiting! Visiting hours are daily from 1–5pm. My new perfect family NEEDS to understand that it WILL take me a while to adjust at first and I WILL hide as I settle in. Give me time, patience, and use food as a tool to get me out of my shell — I really am a wonderful cat. I am fully vetted: neutered, microchipped, FIV & FeLV negative, treated for fleas/ticks/and intestinal parasites, and up-to-date on all my vaccinations: distemper, rabies, and FeLV. I require an indoor-only home and, as with all cats — absolutely no declawing.
