Meet Chiqui Chiqui is a sweet girl who recently made her way to us from California after being surrendered by her previous family. She is understandably shy right now, as everything around her is new, but she is already starting to show her fun personality as she settles in. With a little time and patience, she begins to warm up and enjoy the people and dogs around her. In her previous home, Chiqui lived outdoors full-time and shared her space with two other French bulldogs who were also surrendered. We are told she did well with the family’s young child, but due to the child's allergies, the family decided to rehome her. Her world was mostly limited to the backyard, where she enjoyed chasing squirrels and exploring familiar surroundings. Because of this, many everyday experiences like walks, leashes, and new environments are still very new to her. She is currently learning how to navigate life outside the backyard and is making progress. In her foster home, she is already enjoying the company of her two foster dog brothers, though she is still figuring out social cues and boundaries. Chiqui would do best with an adopter who understands that she will need time to adjust and is willing to guide her through new experiences with patience and consistency. With love, structure, and encouragement, she has so much potential to grow into a confident and affectionate companion.
