Written: 4/20/2026 Meet Dewey! Dewey was found after he was hit by a car. He had a leg fracture that healed on its own and while it does not require follow-up care, he will likely always walk with a little bit of a limp. But that doesn't stop him! This guy loves to play with other dogs, and he plays HARD! Another playful dog in the home will suit him best! He is a submissive player! Dewey is at or just under a year old and believed to be a GSP mix. While he's only been in foster for a short amount of time, he has been a really great addition to his foster home. He knows sit and down, and is working on staying until released for his food. You can pet him all over while he is eating and touch his feet. He loves to fetch and has done well with toys around other dogs. He hasn't tried to counter surf, and hasn't had a single accident in the house! He also sleeps comfortably through the night in his crate! He is being fostered in Richmond, VA and is up to date on core vaccinations, has been dewormed, and is on monthly preventatives. He has been heartworm tested and is negative. His adoption fee is $375 and covers the cost of core vaccinations, microchip, neuter, along with the cost of his care while in foster. We require that all adopters, regardless of the dog’s age, are committed to ongoing training and socialization as part of responsible ownership. To apply to adopt Dewey, visit www.beaglesandbentleys.org/adopt. Spay/Neuter Disclosure: Spay/Neuter will be scheduled when age-appropriate and is covered in the adoption fee. We require adopters to be within a reasonable distance of Richmond or Virginia Beach in order to complete spay/neuter with our approved clinics. Note: Sending a Petfinder inquiry is not submitting an application. We require a completed adoption application to move forward with adoption. Beagles and Bentleys has an across-the-board evaluative process that we apply to every application we review that prioritizes our animals in need. We conduct a vet reference check (all resident dogs must be altered/up to date on dhpp/rabies and monthly preventatives, and cats must be altered and up to date on rabies) and a virtual home visit call where we discuss the adoption process and see your home.
