About Flint

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Flint arrived from the city pound on 1/26/2026. His legal stray hold was finished and no one had claimed him. He's approximately 3 to 4 years old, and he looks to be a husky/shepherd type mix. There could be some Australian shepherd or collie in there, too. He is very loving and personable. He has been fully vetted and microchipped and his fee is $125. Flint is an active dog who will require regular exercise. He is pretty well mannered and seems to have had a little training but more training is always a plus. He is bright and eager to please. We do think he would do okay with other dogs. He's a happy guy who loves attention. He has been a pretty easy resident to have at our shelter. He doesn't cause any problems and he keeps a perfectly clean kennel. We think he would be okay with older kids. We have no way of knowing about cats. Special Needs: Flint has been observed having a few nonviolent seizures at the shelter. Our vet was consulted and decided to put him on gabapentin to manage the seizures and stop them from becoming more damaging and violent. If the seizures worsen, he will have to go on phenobarbital. Flint also tested positive for Lyme disease, and it's uncertain whether the seizures were caused by the Lyme. Flint is doing well on the medication and is physically healthy, but a potential adopter should be aware of this and willing to monitor him and give him medication for life, if he continues to need it. NOTE: Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.
