About Jett

Jett is a spunky, playful 2 year old chihuahua / Jack Russell terrier / possible corgi mix that weighs 18 lbs. He is full grown and will not get any bigger. Jett is best described as confident, affectionate, curious, and full of life. He is always eager to explore the world around him and take in every new sight, sound, and smell. He warms up to new people quickly and shows off his silly, affectionate side within minutes of making a new human friend. He is extremely food motivated, and we're talking he would sell his soul for some yummy treats kind of food motivated. He’s the kind of dog who will thrive with an active lifestyle. Jett genuinely enjoys being outside soaking up the sunshine, walking trails, exploring new places, or simply spending time in the yard chasing all the birds, squirrels and lizards that come through. He will be an excellent adventure companion for hiking trips, weekend outings, and any activity that allows him to have fun, be active, and be close to his people. He's also a major cuddle bug and after he’s had a chance to burn off energy and satisfy his curious nature, he loves nothing more than curling up on the couch for cuddles and nap time. Jett will be a wonderful addition to a family that wants a dog involved in both their daily routines and their downtime. If you’re searching for a loving, affectionate, and adventure-ready best friend who will be your loyal shadow and share every chapter of life with you, Jett is the dog for you. Jett is medium energy, so he requires multiple exercise and play sessions each day. He currently goes on walks with his foster mom up to 3 miles and could walk even further if she wanted to keep going. He loves nothing more than squeaky toys and playing fetch. His ideal home will have a toy box full of squeaky toys, ropes, and chew toys, and he’d be thrilled to have a BarkBox subscription to keep the fun going with new surprises every month. He also likes to play with his foster brother in the backyard and play wrestle and engage in a fun game of chase. He loves to engage in mental stimulation activities like hide and seek games with hidden treats, puzzles, and treat dispensing toys. He is a pro at puzzle games because he is very food motivated, and he will keep himself busy working to get treats out until there are no more.  His love for yummy treats and his eagerness to engage with his human makes training a breeze for him. He is the perfect adventure buddy for long hikes and exploring nature trails, but he is also happy to go on casual walks around the neighborhood. He is the type of pup that's always up for a new adventure and is happy to join his human for every outing he can go on. Hiking through the woods, splashing around near the water, or strolling through town for some new sights and smells, Jett will always be happy to go along for the ride. With his adaptable energy level, he’s just as content with a short playtime activities as he is going on a bigger, more adventurous outings. Jett is dog, cat, and kid friendly. He is currently in a foster home with a French Bulldog and coexists well with him. He is much higher energy than his foster brother so he tends to wear him out quickly and find something else to keep him busy when his playmate is ready for a nap. He would benefit from having another spunky, playful dog in his forever home. He does prefer slower intros with new dogs he meets if the dog comes on too strong initially, but he warms up quickly when the other dog understands his boundaries. Once he is comfortable with them, his boundaries go out the window and he is happy to share his personal space. Because he is a goofy, spunky, playful dog, he would do best with more playful dogs versus older, temperamental dogs. When it comes to kitties, he loves them immediately and wants to play with them. He would be able to join a family that has a more social, dog-friendly cat in the home that would want to be his friend and play occasionally. Jett would do well with older kids that he can run around and play with in the backyard, and then cuddle up on the couch with for snuggles after. If they can throw a ball or squeaky toy for him, he will be their best friend forever.  Jett is kennel trained, potty trained, and leash trained. He sleeps in kennel at night with no fuss, but does need some treats or toys to settle in if he is put in the kennel during the day. He does just fine being left out at night though and sometimes will sleep in bed with his foster family or curl up on his favorite donut dog bed to snooze the night away. He would love to snuggle up in bed with his humans when he gets to his foster home so he can get in as many cuddles as possible, but he's also perfectly content if he has to sleep on his dog bed or in his kennel. He will not have an accident inside the home and will wait patiently for his foster family to take him outside to do his business. He gets excited when he sees his leash because he loves going on walks. He does get excited if he sees a squirrel run across a yard and will want to chase after it though, but he is easily redirected with a treat or a squeaky toy. He is very food motivated and responds well with treats, so just bring some of his favorite snacks or his favorite loud squeaky toy and his full attention will be back on you as you continue your walk. Jett's ideal home would be a house with a fenced in backyard to run around and play in. He would do well in an apartment, condo or townhouse, but does need multiple walks each day for exercise. He would love to go to the occasional Sniff Spot for exercise and play time if he does live in an apartment or townhome without a fenced in yard. He would love to have a human that works from home, but he would also benefit from going to doggy day care a few times a week so that he can have some fun playing with other doggy friends and help burn his energy if you work outside of the home. No public dog parks for this sweet boy because who wants to risk your pup catching a disease or being bullied on by other random dogs anyways. He would do love to have a family that has other higher energy playful dogs and older kids for him to play and cuddle with. Jett is ready for a home that will embrace both his playful spirit and his affectionate heart. He’s looking for a family that will keep him active and include him in the rhythm of everyday life. In return, he’ll be your loyal and fun adventure buddy.  Jett is in a foster home in Central Texas. He can be adopted and transported to the following cities/states: https://www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/transport-locations If you are interested in adopting Jett, please fill out an application at: https://www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/adoption-application. TRANSPORT: Currently we have monthly transports. It will be up to the adoptive family to meet the transport to pick up your new family member. Please be advised that our dogs are adopted to their forever families prior to being transported. Unfortunately at this time, we cannot bring dogs for a typical meet and greet situation, due to the extensiveness of the transport distance and it being unfair for the dogs who are not adopted to have to make the trip back. Please be advised that applications are reviewed in the order that they are received. To ensure we are honoring the dogs that we have committed to helping, we do have policies and procedures in place that we follow when reviewing adoption applications. LAPP Dog Rescue is ran 100% by volunteers, so please be mindful that when you submit an application that it can take a few days to be reviewed. Submitting an application is not a confirmation that the adoption will be approved/completed. Before submitting the application, please read the FULL description on PetFinder describing the dog's personality, energy level, housing requirements and our policy on meet and greets. The cost to adopt is $650, which includes $400 adoption fee and a $250 transport fee. The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, neuter procedure, microchip, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, plus any necessary vet care while in the rescue's care. The transport fee covers Theo's transport from his foster home to his forever home. You can see more pictures of Jett on our website: https://www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/jett
