About Poppy
Poppy, known to her friends as Lady Poppy Von Whiskerton III, is a striking 6-year-old calico with a strong sense of humor. Life at the shelter was hard on her—she scratched her ear until it needed extra care and spent too long in the clinic, which only heightened her anxiety. Once she moved into a foster home, everything shifted. Within a day, her playful side bloomed: she explored every nook, climbed her cat trees, and darted around, finally content and free to move. Her ear wound healed quickly, and she stopped scratching completely. Poppy is a vocal cat who likes to keep up a lively conversation. She’s affectionate but not needy, content to give head bumps and stay nearby, often hanging out next to you during a quiet evening in. She’s not a fan of being carried about but enjoys being part of the action, following you from room to room. Social and playful, Poppy relishes interactive games, climbing, and especially survey sessions from her favorite perch—a protected balcony where she can soak in the sights for hours. Scratch pads, especially vertical ones, are a must in her life. Poppy gets along with other cats and tolerates dogs without fuss; she makes brief introductions and then goes off to do her own thing. She also does well with children, provided they give her space. In her foster home in Fort Lauderdale, Poppy has shown she’s ready to settle into a relaxed, loving environment where she has room to climb, play, and nap near her favorite people. Vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped, she’s fully ready for her next chapter. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
