AvailableAbout Rhubarb
Rhubarb is a darling girl looking to charm her way into your life. She’s also a tripod with a gentle, silly and playful personality—and you will feel like the luckiest person in the world whenever she gives you one of her little head-butts. Rhubarb has melted all of our hearts and really blossomed in her foster home! While at first she was wary of pets, she has since decided that she’s a totally social cat now and greets us at the door with zoomies and gentle head butts. She especially loves when we pet her butt with one hand and her head with the other, resulting in a blissed out petting session where she may flop over and show us her belly. It may take a little time for Rhubarb to gain your trust, but it’s so worth it once she decides it’s time. Toys, churu treats, and wet food go a long way toward helping her get to know you. When you hold a churu, she will confidently approach you and grasp it in between her paws. She is also not shy about her wand toy, and will sometimes steal it from us and take it to her lair, a plush “cave” bed where she likes to hangout. While she’s missing her back left leg, she doesn’t let this get in the way of playtime. She’s a speedy kitten and will fetch all of her favorite toys. She used to live outside, until one day her feeder found her with her back severely injured. We have no idea how she endured such a traumatic injury, but we immediately brought her to our vet. Our vet performed a necessary amputation. After that, we brought her in for life indoors, to give her the best life possible. Because Rhubarb used to live outside, she’s still figuring out a few things. For example, she may run toward us and ask for pets, then get overwhelmed by the excitement, go hangout in her “cave” bed, then zoom out and greet us for more pets again. She has a quirky charm and will plop down at our feet at random when she feels like it, a delightful surprise every time! As Rhubarb gets the hang of indoor life, we suspect she’ll gain even more confidence. Recent pursuits of hers include walking across our laps in chase of a churu or a toy, and even allowing head kisses and belly rubs. She has also been a very quick learner and is totally great with the litterbox and respectful of furniture! Rhubarb would do best in a quiet home where she can get to know you on her own terms. She also needs a confident kitten or cat buddy who can show her the ropes and join her for play time. She has an adorable, soprano mew that she’ll use to get our attention or in her attempts to woo the resident kitty in her foster home.
