About Starretta

Meet Starretta (ACCT-A-247202), a high-energy, wiggly, and incredibly sweet girl who is ready to find her forever home! Starretta is a total lovebug who thrives on human companionship. Whether she is leaning in for snuggles, soliciting belly rubs, or wiggling her whole body to say hello, she is guaranteed to brighten your day. She is a playful spirit who enjoys outdoor adventures and has been described by volunteers as a "sweet and playful puppy" at heart. She is great on a leash and is always happy to head outside for some exercise and playtime. Starretta was found as a stray on April 9, quickly adopted, and returned a week later due to some mouthiness. Because she is a high-energy girl, she is looking for an active family who can provide her with plenty of enrichment and training to help her channel her youthful excitement. She already knows "sit" and is eager to learn more! Per her adopters, Starretta can be a bit "mouthy" when she gets very excited during play, so we recommend a home that is comfortable with or experienced in working with energetic, playful dogs. Because of this, she would do best in an adult-only home where she can be the center of your world. Starretta is a social, people-oriented dog who is ready to be your new best friend. If you're looking for a fun, loving companion to join you on your daily walks and cozy up with at night, come meet Starretta today! She was easy to leash up and walk and loves snuggles. She solicits lots of attention and didn't show any young dog craziness or mouthing. Gem of a pup! Behavior eval 4/18/2026: Kennel Presentation: Loose and wiggly in her crate with soft eyes, jumping up on the door Leash Skills: Easy to leash even with the jumping on the door, came right out of her crate. Moderate pulling to get outside, very manageable due to her size Sociability: Very people-oriented and sweet. Loves pets, leans in for snuggles, and solicits attention. She showed slight jumpiness at first, which calmed down the longer we were out, and no mouthiness at all. No interest in treats Play: No interest Dog Interaction: Quick sniffs with Milo through the fence, disengaged after a few sniffs Return to Kennel: Walked right into crate (there were a few treats in there) and allowed me to unleash her easily Color Level: Gold Recommendations and considerations: Playgroup 4/18: Steerable with spray bottle (2/5) but not with shake can (0/5). Curious during gate greetings (ears up or back, med-level tail wags). Casually approached Freckles & Bubbaley to greet them as they were playing, but was a bit overwhelmed by both of them greeting her and flopped over, belly-up. Was appeasing in this way throughout, either going belly-up to receive greetings or evading with low posture, ears back, lip licks, and tucked tail. Generally preferred to keep to herself (mostly sitting on the bench) but occasionally would have bursts of running around Per staff 4/18/2026: Any time I go into the eval room, she is loose bodied, wiggling, and wagging her tail. Most recently, she sat on her butt with her body against the kennel door and would rub her face along the bars trying to get you to pet her. Per volunteer 4/17/26: I spent some time with this sweet little lady today. She was super excited to get out which made it tricky to leash her up. I reached my arm in and after several attempts got the leash on. She was jumpy but did not get mouthy at all. We played in the yard for a while. At first she just followed me around. Eventually the rope peaked her interest. Zero resource guarding. Just gentle puppy play. At the end she got the zoomies and became more jumpy but not really mouthy. I gave her an opportunity to nip at my fingers and she was very gentle. Basically a sweet and playful puppy. ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia.
