Mercury is a survivor, truly a miracle story! He suffered from “high-rise syndrome” and fell out of a window in New York City. The poor thing limped around on three legs for weeks. Although he could hardly walk when our rescuer found him, Mercury’s single goal was to try and climb into the rescuer’s lap. With lots of love and a successful surgery to fix some broken bones, he’s almost an entirely different cat from who we rescued. We say almost, because he’s never stopped being a human centered, assertively affectionate cat. If you’re not giving him love when he wants it, expect a head butt to remind you to get back to the petting, please. Mercury’s ideal home has many people in it who just want to shower him with affection. He would sit with you all day if you work from home, and greet you with gusto when you come home if your work outside of the house. He follows his human around non-stop, and rubs on their legs or flops down at their feet for pets. Looking for a cat to hang out with you on the couch? Mercury is your fella. He loves to be picked up and snuggled, he can’t get enough human affection. Mercury is a medium energy guy, which tracks for the young man he is. He is estimated to be 5 years old. He loves his cat nip banana, but he’s no wild child. He’ll play energetically, but then happily go relax and gaze out the window. He loves to tunnel under the blankets, which is very cute. He’s proven himself to be an incredibly resilient cat, very gentle, and so open hearted. Mercury loves kids as young as two, and is unbothered by the dog in his foster home. He would be happy as a solo cat, receiving all of the love from his humans. He’s a well-adjusted cat that took very little time to adjust to his foster home, and we expect the same will be true when he arrives at his forever home. Mercury is vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and dewormed. He has some old fractures in his left front paw, and the surgery on his right front leg went very well, so these injuries do not limit him. He has a full healthy life ahead. Mercury is in foster in Southern CT, but we travel for great homes. His adoption fee is $225.
