Dusky is a 2 month old Malinois/Mastiff mix with a spunky personality who is going to grow into a fabulous companion. He was rescued from a home that became overwhelmed with two litters of puppies being born in the same week. Of course, that could have been prevented with spay/neuter. :/ But here were 17 precious lives that we wanted to step in and save. The area is known for dog fighting and we couldn't waste any time getting them into safe and loving foster homes. This silly puppy is thriving in a loving foster home where he’s learning what it means to just be a puppy—full belly, cozy bed, and people who care. It’s a whole new world, and he’s soaking up every second of it. Dusky is all about fun. He’s first in line for playtime, always ready to tumble and wrestle with his brother Haze, and just as quick to crash into a deep, content puppy nap afterward. He’s social, loving, and building the kind of personality that will make him not just a good dog—but a truly exceptional companion. But let’s be real—Dusky is going to grow into a big, brave and very smart dog. His Malinois/Mastiff mix means he’ll need more than just love (though he’ll happily take all of that too). He needs guidance, structure, training, and a home committed to helping him reach his full potential. We’re looking for adopters who understand working breeds—or who are ready with a solid plan to meet his physical and mental needs. He does great with other dogs and, with proper introductions, would likely adjust well to cats. Because he’s a typical playful puppy (with those sharp little baby teeth), he’d do best in a home with older or dog-savvy kids who understand puppy energy. Dusky and his siblings will be neutered/spayed in mid-May and will be ready for their forever homes once they’ve healed.
