About Moose

Moose is a 3-year-old Terrier mix with a striking red merle coat that looks almost like polished granite. Weighing in at around 62 lbs, he made his way back to the shelter as a stray after his previous adopters had to rehome him due to landlord issues. Sadly, Moose was abandoned but thankfully picked up and brought safely to the Humane Society of South Mississippi in Gulfport, MS, where he’s now looking for a true forever home. Moose is easygoing around other dogs but generally prefers his independence. He loves meeting new people and, despite his size, often tries to curl up in laps. He’s good with older children and hasn’t been tested around younger kids. Moose walks well on a leash and is house trained. No fenced yard is required for his adoption and families with children are welcome to apply—it’s worth noting that if you have another dog, Moose prefers polite introductions. His adoption fee is sponsored, and it includes neutering, all up-to-date vaccinations, a microchip, and transport to the Northeast and select Southern states, excluding MA and RI due to regulations. Moose’s adoption isn’t finalized until you’ve met him in person at a designated meeting spot and completed the contract. Born August 17, Moose is a proud Leo—friendly and keen on attention.
