This handsome pup has previously lived with another dog and even cats, so with proper introductions, he has the potential to do well with other furry friends. Because every dog dynamic is different, we do ask that Nanook meet any canine companions in the home before adoption to make sure it’s a great match for everyone. Phoenix winters are the only safe outdoor season for Siberian Huskies. Even then, temperatures above 65°F can make them uncomfortable during vigorous exercise. South Mountain and desert trails are great for hiking, but carry extra water since Huskies push hard.

Spring

Mar – May

By April, Phoenix is already too hot for comfortable Husky exercise. Limit outdoor activity to predawn hours. Huskies will blow their coat heavily in response to the desert heat. Never shave a Husky even in Phoenix since the double coat protects against sunburn and heat absorption.

Summer

78°F to 106°F

Jun – Aug

Phoenix summers are extremely dangerous for Siberian Huskies. Temperatures above 100°F combined with a thick double coat create a life-threatening situation. Zero outdoor time except for brief predawn potty breaks. Multiple fans, AC, and frozen enrichment toys are essential for indoor stimulation.
