AvailableAbout Theo
Theo is a super sweet, social 3-4 year old terrier mix that weighs 65 lbs. He is full grown and will not get any larger. Theo is best described as a lover boy through and through. He is naturally social and absolutely adores meeting new people and making new friends. He greets everyone like an old friend, leaning in for pets, making soft eye contact, and quickly making you part of his circle. One of Theo's best qualities is how adaptable he is and how effortlessly he fits into just about any lifestyle. He loves going on car rides and fun outings to dog-friendly places, like brunch with friends on the patio, the beach, and farmer's markets. He’s very adaptable and just fits right into new environments with ease. He truly just likes to be included in everything his humans do. As soon as you sit down on the couch, he wiggles his way into your lap for cuddles and snuggles. He also has a goofy, fun-loving personality that really makes him the life of the party. He thrives on exploring the world around him and would be the perfect companion for a family that enjoys outdoor activities like fun adventures hiking and leisurely walks on nature trails. If you work from home, Theo is the perfect companion to keep you company. He fits seamlessly into your routine He's quiet, laid back, and is perfectly content hanging out next to you while you work. More than anything, Theo is looking for a home where he can truly belong. He’ll give you loyalty, affection, and a constant, comforting presence in return for being included in your everyday life. Whether it’s greeting you at the door with a wagging tail or settling in beside you at the end of the day, Theo has a way of making even the simplest moments feel special. Theo is a low to medium energy pup that is best described as perfect mix of active and laid back. He requires a few short energy burning activities per day, like short strolls around the neighborhood or play time in the backyard. He is a master at lounging on the couch and sunbathing on the porch. He is able to adjust his energy level based on what his humans want to do. If you want to hang out at home for a lazy day, Theo is happy to snuggle up on the couch next to you and binge watch your favorite tv shows. If you want to go on a fun outdoor adventure, Theo is ready to go at any time and will happily join you on a long hike, fun day at the beach, or exploring nature trails along the river. He is very food motivated and is easily entertained with mental stimulation games, like puzzles and treat dispensing toys, that he can work on to get yummy treats as a prize. Theo is the type of dog that he doesn’t need constant entertainment, but you can always find him nearby just lounging around until you tell him it's time to go on a walk or car ride. If his humans are busy, he’s perfectly capable of entertaining himself. He’ll happily settle down with a toy, chew contentedly on a bone, or play with a treat dispensing puzzle to keep himself busy. His adaptable energy level makes him a great fit for families who want a dog that can keep up when it’s time to be active, but also knows how to settle in and relax for lots of cuddle time. Theo is dog and kid friendly. He has done well with both small and large dogs, and was previously in a home with another dog. He frequently had play dates with dogs at the beach and parks, too. He is a social butterfly when it comes to making new dog friends, but can get a little excited initially when first introduced while on leash. He does best when he meets a new dog off leash in a fenced in area and he will be more polite in his greetings when done this way. He has learned proper doggy communication skills and knows how to respect boundaries, too. He doesn't need a dog sibling in his forever home and does just fine being a solo dog in a family, but he would benefit from having play dates with doggy friends so he can have some fun running and playing from time to time. If there is another dog in his forever home, he would love to have a friendly, playful dog that he can have some fun running and playing in the backyard with them. Theo absolutely adores humans of all ages and sizes. He is incredibly sweet, gentle, and loving whenever he meets new people and is completely loyal to you within minutes of meeting you. Because of his affectionate and playful personality, he would do well in a home with kids of all ages. He would love to have a family with kids that he can snuggle and cuddle with, and also play with in the backyard. He hasn't been introduced to kitties yet, so to be on the safe side, we do not recommend having kitties in the home unless they can be completely separated and very slow introductions can be done. Theo is kennel trained, leash trained, and potty trained. He will sleep in a kennel if he needs to go into one, but he is perfectly fine being left out at night and when you go to work. He isn't destructive at all and will curl up on the couch to hang out until you get back home. He currently sleeps in bed with his foster mom at night, and loves to snuggle up close to get in some extra cuddles while they sleep. He is fully potty trained and will notify you that he needs to go outside by standing at the door. If you don't notice him standing there, he will stand right in front of you and stare at you until you let him out to potty. He is a perfect gentleman on a leash and doesn't pull at all while walking. He gets excited when you pick up his leash and will run to the door and sit patiently until you leash him up to go outside. He is not reactive to other people or dogs on his walks, but does wag his tail and get wiggly when he sees someone on his walks. He loves to make new friends while he's out and about, and if someone comes up to pet him, he will soak up all the affection he can get. Theo's ideal home would be a house with a fenced in backyard to run around and play in. He would do perfectly fine in an apartment, condo or townhouse, too. His foster mom currently lives in an apartment and he does great. He is quiet, low key, and just needs a few short walks each day for exercise. He would love to go to the occasional Sniff Spot to run around and burn some energy if he does live in an apartment or townhome without a fenced in yard. He would be perfectly fine being the only dog in his forever home, but he'd also do well if he has a another friendly, playful doggy in the home. No public dog parks for this sweet boy (or any other dog actually) because who wants to risk your pup catching a disease or being bullied on by other random dogs anyways. He is the perfect pup for a family with kids because he loves to cuddle and loves to play. With his adaptable, gentle, laid back personality, he would be a wonderful fit for a variety of households. If you’re looking for a fun adventure buddy that is also a laid back couch potato, Theo is the perfect dog for you. Theo is in a foster home in Central Texas. He can be adopted and transported to the following cities/states: https://www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/transport-locations If you are interested in adopting Theo, please fill out an application at: https://www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/adoption-application. TRANSPORT: Currently we have monthly transports. It will be up to the adoptive family to meet the transport to pick up your new family member. Please be advised that our dogs are adopted to their forever families prior to being transported. Unfortunately at this time, we cannot bring dogs for a typical meet and greet situation, due to the extensiveness of the transport distance and it being unfair for the dogs who are not adopted to have to make the trip back. Please be advised that applications are reviewed in the order that they are received. To ensure we are honoring the dogs that we have committed to helping, we do have policies and procedures in place that we follow when reviewing adoption applications. LAPP Dog Rescue is ran 100% by volunteers, so please be mindful that when you submit an application that it can take a few days to be reviewed. Submitting an application is not a confirmation that the adoption will be approved/completed. Before submitting the application, please read the FULL description on PetFinder describing the dog's personality, energy level, housing requirements and our policy on meet and greets. The cost to adopt is $550, which includes $300 adoption fee and a $250 transport fee. The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, neuter procedure, microchip, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, plus any necessary vet care while in the rescue's care. The transport fee covers Theo's transport from his foster home to his forever home. You can see more pictures of Theo on our website: https://www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/theo
