April Jonas is an adorable medium-sized mixed breed who arrived at ACCT Philly in the early hours of April 13th. Found as a stray, April is thought to be around three years old. We are looking forward to getting to know her better, but so far staff have described her as "very sweet, and loves pets and cuddles!" Took a treat gently through the bars. Leash Skills: Jumped up on the door when I opened it with soft eyes, ears back, loose wiggly body. Jumped down and pawd at the leash for a second before she was leashed. Pulled mildly on leash and walked through the kennels with her ears back, mid level tail wags, loose body, soft eyes. Sociability: Allows all handling and leans into pets with soft eyes, ears back, loose body, mid to low tail wags. Put her front paws up on my lap when I sat down and would nudge my hands for pets. She is very food motivated and took treats gently outside. Play: n/a Dog Interaction: Met Julz, ears back, mid level tail wags. Did some play bows trying to get Julz to play. Also met Copper, ears back, loose body, mid level tail wags, good play bows and play pauses. Return to Kennel: Walked back into the kennels with the same body language as before. Stopped at the front of her kennel, wider eyes, low tail wags, loose body. Needed a treat to return. Once in kennel leash was removed easily. Color Level: Gold Per volunteer 4/15: April is sweet, gentle, and full of love. She was excited to leave her kennel when I approached-jumping and pawing at the door, but the moment she was leashed, she turned into an absolute dream to walk. She was she easiest loose leash walk and the had softest treat-taking manners ever. She would smile and wag her tail every time she looked at me. Even when another dog passed close by, she stayed cool and checked right back in with her handler. Playgroup 4/14: Was the helper for the day. Good push pull play, nice play pauses. Vocal player and gives corrections. Playgroup 4/13: Steer test: 3-4/5 with water. Ears to the side, soft eyes, mid tail wags at the fence. Slow entry and handler oriented. With more time out she showed us her adorable play moves. She spins and play bows with soft loose body. Per staff 4/13: Observed April during playgroup. Dog is VERY handler oriented, soliciting pets and attention. April is very tolerant of multiple play styles of dogs and only gave very mild and appropriate corrections to dogs of a VERY rough and rowdy play style, despite her not having that same playstyle. Due to the nature of prior notes as well as physical assessment, making foster eligible as believe would thrive in foster environment.
