Meet Reese: The Sweetest Find in the Swamp. While the world was celebrating Easter Sunday, little Reese was facing the unthinkable. Weighing only 12 pounds, she was found abandoned in the woods, left to fend for herself in the swampy brush. Her brother, Peeps, had been rescued just shortly before her. When his finders received a tip that there was a second pup that had been spotted in the same area, they had to go back. Sure enough, there was Reese-looking just like her brother and clearly his sibling. She was scared and hungry, but her journey toward a better life began the moment she was safe in our arms. Reese is a 1-year-old Chihuahua/Dachshund mix who is just as delightful as her namesake. Though her past was dark, her future is looking bright and golden. Like many survivors, Reese is very timid at first. The world can feel like a big place when you only weigh 12 pounds! However, she warms up quickly and has a deep craving for love and attention. Once she knows she's safe, she is a total velcro dog. She is up to date on vaccinations, Microchipped and Heartworm negative. She is currently focusing on regular meals to get her weight up, and she will be spayed as soon as she is healthy enough for the procedure. Reese will need a "decompression" period. After the trauma of being dumped in the woods, she needs a quiet environment where she can learn that she never has to worry about her next meal or finding shelter again. Reese is a resilient girl who just needs a chance to show her true colors. She would thrive in a home that can offer her patience, gentle encouragement, and plenty of snuggles. "She may have started her journey lost in the woods, but she's ready to finish it curled up on your sofa." Could you be the one who gives Reese her forever home? Apply to adopt Reese today. She's a tiny treasure who has survived the worst and is now looking for the very best! PLEASE READ BELOW: If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt Please note: Information to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. *An inquiry, questions or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application* All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. For more on this, or for additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets (including an explanation about Benefactor Dogs), please see our FAQs page: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as our website, Chewy, Pet Finder, and others. These are in no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed. ***Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters across the South, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures.
