About Persephone

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Persephone! This overly-affectionate fluffy girl is looking for a home to call her own! She is desperate for love and attention and soaks up all the pets you're willing to give her! She will follow you around, seeking out affection from her human friends. She does not seem to be a big fan of cats, but she's been okay with the dog at her foster home. Believe us, she will provide so much love and affection that you won't need any other cats besides her!! She has very soft, almost rabbit-soft hair that is very long and fluffy - especially her poofy tail! When she's not actively being pet by someone, you can find her lounging on the windowsill watching the people walk by. The posted pictures are from the shelter, but we will update them soon with pictures from her foster home. She is a really special girl who will be a wonderful companion! This cat is spayed, microchipped, up to date on distemper and rabies vaccinations, dewormings, tested negative for FIV/Felv, is on flea/tick preventative and ear mite preventative. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out a 'Cat Adoption Application' at www.DelawarePetRescue.org/forms Adoption fee is: $300 Can’t adopt? Consider donating! We are in need of cat food, litter, and enrichment items for the kitties in our care! If the animal you are interested in adopting is listed as 'available for adoption', that means the animal is still in DPR's care. *Please note - we do not do in-person meet and greets. Potential adopters can speak to the cats foster mom on the phone or do a meeting on Zoom or Facetime if desired to virtually meet the cat. You can pick your kitty up 'curb side'. Cats can be returned with a full refund for up to one week. * DPR cats receive the following medical care prior to adoption: Initial vet visit Spay or neuter (if cat is 6 months or older)Rabies vaccination (if cat is 6 months or older)Distemper vaccinationSNAP testing for FIV, Leukemia and heart wormBroad spectrum dewormers Monthly flea/tick preventative Ear mite preventative The above is standard for ALL cats in our care. But many cats we rescue also require some additional TLC prior to adoption, such as antibiotics, eye ointments, wound care, fungal treatment, x-rays, or various surgeries. We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 charity. The adoption fee helps to offset our standard and non-standard vet bills.
