About Duke
Duke is a fiercely loyal and affectionate dog once he trusts you. With those he bonds with, he shows a loving side—especially in the mornings and evenings. He’s stubborn and independent-minded; he’ll listen some of the time, but barking on command isn’t in his skillset just yet. Around other dogs, even small ones, Duke plays well and enjoys himself. He’s a notorious toy destroyer and will try to eat just about anything within reach, so it’s crucial to keep unsafe items out of his path. Duke would benefit from a confident, committed owner who can dedicate time to training and address his territorial instincts. It’s important to note Duke “nips” if something upsets him, often when someone comes around his chosen spot or person, so he needs clear boundaries and a patient, experienced handler. He’s wary of new people at first but can grow to trust with consistency. Duke does best with people who respect his boundaries and are ready to invest in his progress.
