Husky lovers, have we got a treat for you! This dashing boy comes to us from a local vet clinic. They reached out to us after Luigi's owner became homeless, and they had allowed him to relinquish his dog to them. The staff was actively looking for a rescue for him, knowing that he was very adoptable and did not need to languish in their boarding kennels. What a shame it would have been for this magnificent boy to be hidden from what we are sure are many admirers! We were happy to take him in to our shelter, and show him off to the world. Like many huskies, Luigi is slight of frame and is a perfect medium size. Also like many huskies, he likes to stay active! Luigi is your instant bestie and is up for anything, especially if it involves the outdoors. Luigi loves his walks and playgroup time with his dog pals in our large yard. On his first day, he made so many new dog friends and it was amazing to watch him run, or rather glide, the length of the yard-- he is so graceful! When you go to leash him up you may think he is going to be go go go, but he is so pleasant to walk! He doesn't pull, he likes to observe, sniff, and take it all in. That is, until a squirrel crosses his path! But even then, he is well-trained enough to look back at his handler, seemingly for permission to go chase it (which is not given!). As you may have seen in his video, Luigi LOVES his stuffy toys! He will carry his faves for the entirety of his walk, and he is so gentle with them too. To keep his active mind engaged when he is in his kennel, Luigi likes to toss alternate between tossing his stuffies around, and gnawing on a bully stick or enjoying a frozen Kong. We have met many huskies that were not into food, and were big-time grazers, but Luigi is very treat motivated which means he is going to be so much fun to train. He is already super smart, but training will help him to hone those powers for good and not for mischief! We hope all of you husky enthusiasts will hurry in to meet this special boy who is looking for a new beginning. Luigi is neutered, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
