Meet Dahlia, a 2 year old Great Pyrenees mix weighing 80 pounds with a calm, gentle soul. She is very quiet and a bit shy and nervous at first, often keeping to herself as she observes her surroundings. Dahlia does not beg for attention, but she gladly accepts it and truly enjoys peaceful companionship once she feels comfortable. She prefers soft, tender interactions like cuddling and relaxing by your side rather than high energy play. While she does not show much interest in interacting with other dogs, she is content doing her own thing and bonding closely with her people. Dahlia would do best in a calm, relaxed home where she can feel safe and move at her own pace. Every now and then, Dahlia surprises you with a little burst of spunk and playfulness, showing a sweet and silly side to her personality. She is good with kids and cats and has a gentle nature that makes her a wonderful companion for a quieter household. Dahlia is spayed, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped. Given the conditions Dahlia originated from, upon rescue, she tested positive for Heartworm disease. It is caused by foot-long worms (heartworms) that live in the heart, lungs, and associated blood vessels of affected animals, causing severe lung disease, heart failure, and damage to other organs in the body.
